When my kids were small I regularly read them the Mog books by Judith Kerr. As a special treat I took them to an exhibition about the author, where all the Mog series was available. I discovered the final one is called "Goodbye Mog", where she dies. Had to be helped out in tears

I've started thinking about buying the Loeb edition of Plutarch's Parallel Lives, as it's the only way of reading them as he intended - a series of comparisons between famous Greeks and famous Romans.
