You have to get dropped off by jetboat or engage in quite a bit of rock climbing to get to this outcrop - the basaltic andesite lavas here contain large (~ up to two feet diameter) quartz, agate and selenite (and sometimes barytes) filled geodes and amygdaloids

How about some intergrown plagioclase feldspars, in a groundmass of plagioclase and aenigmatite, with the odd bit of clinopyroxene. Cross polarised light, about x20 magnification. Basaltic Andesite, Rakaia outcrop of the Mt Somers Volcanics. 1994.
