This is not the first time people have pointed out Vance’s hypocrisy on this issue, but to pull his children into it and say that you somehow know what’s in Vance’s mind about his own kids is over the line.

Imagine a job the core work of which can be so satisfying that millions of Americans are willing to accept insufficient pay, disrespect, and overwork to pursue it and then the system seems to be constantly asking itself, How can we make that job harder?
And yet budget cuts are still leading to mass layoffs. When I got laid off from CPS, my school had lost so many teachers and aids that they couldn't meet federal minimum staffing requirements. They had to overcrowd the spec ed classes past what is legally allowed.

Yeah so NYT asked me ~2 yrs ago to write an op-ed about how the Colorado is running dry, & what we should do to keep this exact thing from happening. I said "There's only one real answer. Bill farmers by how much water they use. Duh." NYT editorial staff freaked tf out & cancelled the piece.

This story is so absurd that I think it didn’t get enough attention. Chicago police is violating the law to the tune of hundreds of thousands of secret traffic stops that it’s not reporting as the law requires. When Pascal discovered this, they said they’d fix it… but secrecy has only increased!

But now as CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling retires, the issue is worse— *half* of all stops in the last year were not properly documented
