Good Grief

If you think “hearing from all sides” is a useful way to spend your time, you may have too much time on your hands. Give me sound logic or talk to someone else. My time is too valuable for nonsense. Apologies in advance. I don’t read or repost Substack.

Being an ally can be hard sometimes. You get yelled at by a LOT of shitheads just for speaking up. But not giving money to hateful people/organizations actively making the lives of those you claim to care most about worse? That's the easiest fucking part of allyship. If you can't give up that...🤷

There’s no way to spin this. “Big yech”—actually a nice typo (slip?) in the article—was able to buy off the leadership of the nation’s second largest teacher’s union for a paltry $12.5 million.

Teaching educators about AI is a “moral imperative”, said Randi Weingarten, the AFT president. She argues that AI training empowers teachers to make informed decisions about how, when or whether to use AI in their instruction. And without outside funding, it was a choice between taking big yech’s money or doing nothing, she said.

Seconded. It’s wrong on principle, it’s unamerican—we rejected religious tests for office and dual loyalty smears with JFK, Jewish Americans, more—and every minority (especially but not exclusively religious) should recognize it as yet another assertion that only white Christians are real Americans.

i really have no patience whatsoever for people who are scared of muslims having elected office

It seems bad to have a president who spends so much time obsessing over the ballroom, the reflecting pool, the helicopter pad, the arch, the UFW fights, the car race, the fireworks. OTOH, if those projects distract him from, say, getting into another deadly, pointless war, maybe it's for the best.

NEW: Jeanine Pirro has pushed a slew of flimsy, short-lived, Trump-endorsed prosecutions — but Trump's fury over her failure to prosecute Reflecting Pool vandalism is a sign of his 2nd-term obsession and desire to use DOJ to fulfill it w/ @joshgerstein.bsky.social www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

Guys will listen to male influencer bullshit about needing to have a six pack and manipulate everyone and meanwhile women will go “you know who is the sexiest fucking guy I’ve ever seen?” and post this

The extreme heat (and drought) that is affecting much of North America and Europe now is deadly—for plants (our food), people, & other animals. The sooner we embrace clean energy, the more we limit this threat our our wellbeing. Thanks @npr.org for citing our research. @mason4c.bsky.social

As extreme heat grips the South and West, here's how to stay safe

Experts say immersion in cold water before an ambulance arrives can greatly increase the chances of heat stroke survival and reduce the risk of long-term complications.

Australia’s eSafety commissioner buried a report (released Friday afternoon) that shows the under 16 social media ban didn’t tangibly reduce teen social media use, and also resulted in parents tuning out of kids usage. We traded our privacy for no reason. theconversation.com/more-than-80...

More than 80% of kids still using social media despite ban, new eSafety report finds

The report provides more evidence Australia’s world-leading social media ban isn’t going to plan.

No, really, "Tariff Man promises Even MOAR Tariffs, war on 🇺🇸's dominant industry [higher ed], & destroying the immigration fueling 🇺🇸's economy" but the problem is that we aren't quite sure what Joe Biden's VP's fiscal policy might look like" took about two whole weeks of a 100-day election season 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Everyone's forgotten about this bc they've invented 800 other reasons why she lost, but this really was the wildly unserious focus of a massive chunk of the National Conversation™️ in Aug/Sep 2024. When you think about what Trump has done since Jan 2025, this becomes not only laughable, but obscene.

👇🎯 Once again, isn’t everyone glad that the media spent August/September 2024 laser focused on the supposed problem that Kamala Harris was not answering enough questions about the detailed specifics of her economic policy positions?

DoorDash claims to support DC’s autonomy… while actively undermining it. If you’ve already deleted your account and the app from your phone, then I hope you’ll join Free DC on August 7 and call on DoorDash to withdraw support from H.R. 9720. Oppose federal attacks on the people of DC.

I realize I probably come across as an "angry cyclist" a lot on here but then I remember that 7 cyclists have been killed in my state since early June and I have my life threatened on a nearly daily basis and then I don't feel so bad about being a jerk sometimes

Craig is one of the all time premier scumbags of online, and an instant block whenever I join a platform back in my twitter trolling days this human turd would instigate fights, escalate, then delete his part of the conversation and report everyone who had been replying to him, resulting in bans

The DOJ has admitted in court that damage to the Reflecting Pool resulted from mistakes in installation by a contractor. This was a no-bid contract, which may have violated contracting laws. As we said in our complaint in June, this contract must be investigated.
