Did you know? High CO₂ levels indoors can lead to tiredness, poor concentration and stuffy rooms. A CO₂ monitor helps you spot when it's time to improve ventilation, creating a healthier, more comfortable space for everyone. Get CO2 Monitor: www.smartair.uk

Smart Air CO₂ monitor displayed on a clean, light-coloured surface with a soft grey background. The screen shows a CO₂ level of 567 ppm, 52% humidity, and a temperature of 25.5°C. Text at the top reads, "This is your sign to invest in our CO2 monitor." Smart Air branding and website are visible at the bottom of the image.

They are doing something very important: put serious money behind clean indoor air. That is very good news and there is a high likelyhood this will result in advancements to this neglected field, but I think they could have an even bigger impact with some changes So I wrote a short Essay on it:

We treat respiratory infections like the cold and flu as minor nuisances. The evidence increasingly suggests they’re anything but. I'm excited to be an advisor for Intercept, a $500M bet to make them a thing of the past. interceptfund.substack.com/p/e9438538-4...

Indoor Air Quality affects people around 90% of the time every day and therefore is one of the most cross-cutting topics of all. It affects our health, our well-being, our cognitive ability and therefore many domains of our society: education, workplace productivity, equity, resilience + many more.

On Tuesday I was at the "High-Level Dialogue on Health Indoor Air," held as a side event of the World Health Assembly (WHA, sort of the WHO’s General Assembly). One of the organisers’ main goals is to prepare a WHO resolution targeting better indoor health and get it passed at the WHA in 2028.

One of the many great things about the Indoor Air Quality Meetings I attended so far is that there actually is good air quality, just open Doors are often enough to achieve that. 470ppm is just barely above baseline levels. And having a screen promin placed is a great communication tool.

Doctor's offices should be one of the highest priority targets for improved regulation regarding indoor air quality / ventilation - the purpose of a visit there is to get better, not to get infected. Sadly it's also a setting where people often get unrightfully psychologized for wearing a mask.

It is absolutely nuts that air quality in doctors' offices is the worst of all categories in @aurel.indoorco2map.com's database of tens of thousands of crowd sourced data points. Shouldn't physicians know better? A waiting room is almost like a "virus exchange platform".

In addition to the new App Version I also added a new data explorer tool to the indoorco2map.com website at indoorco2map.com/analysis.html . As there are 25000 total measurement time series now (20000 for buildings and 5000 for transit) at least some subsets have decent sample size.
