"For 250 years people have been debating who’s a human and who’s not, who’s real and who’s not. Because if you’re accounted as real under the Constitution, you get human rights, and then if you’re not counted as real, then you don’t." Imara Jones on the heart of the matter for trans people in 2026.
My final thoughts on yesterday’s SCOTUS trans ruling.
250 years ago today, America was created. Then too there was all powerful executive whose dominance over everyday life seemed without end. Today we are reminded that nothing lasts forever, and that eventually power reaches its limits. The cause of freedom is still worthy.
I was asked to reflect about what democracy means as America turns 250 today by the @fordfoundation.org. As a trans journalist I had a lot to say. Here’s what I wrote. www.fordfoundation.org/news-and-sto...
After yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling upholding state laws banning trans girls and women competing in school sports, @imarajones.bsky.social and @chrisgeidner.bsky.social went live on YouTube to unpack the decision, its implications, and what it could mean moving forward. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4wpdkkc
The attack on trans people is not trans people’s fault. It is irresponsible for the @washingtonpost.com to imply that in their analysis of the SCOTUS sports ruling.
Of the people. By the people. For the people. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln used these words to define the American experiment. Today, 250 years after our founding, that definition is still our ultimate goal, and our unfinished work.
Emboldened, they will come for adult GAC with lightning speed.

This is so well put and really clarifies what the fuck is going on. Authoritarianism and traumatizing women and girls (trans and cis)
Sports has always been the entry point, but it is not the final stop. I’ve said this since I started covering the Hecox v. Little anti-trans sports case which the Supreme Court ruled on today.
now girls will be traumatized who have to show their genital's to prove they are female.

On the last day of Pride Month, the Supreme Court has voted to allow states to bar transgender athletes from playing girls’ sports. Their stated goal is to deny constitutional protections for trans people, and this is just another box to check on their list.
Pride was a vibe and we’re outside!! There were so many people everywhere and at every event. This just goes to show that at times like this, we need each other now more than ever. So let’s keep that same energy across the entire LGBTQ+ community all year around!
Pride is the day that we remember how it all started. It’s the day we honor all of the courageous trans people who brought the entire community this far. And it’s the day we commit to not step one inch back because #Pride began as the #StonewallRiots. ❤️🩹✊🏾🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

#Juneteenth is Black and Trans. And in 2026 it takes on a whole new meaning given the political climate which is assaulting both identities simultaneously. But Juneteenth reminds us that no one is free until we are all free. There’s no Black freedom without trans freedom.
Taking Pride to new heights at Pride Above the Park last night! Thanks to Deutsche Bank for sponsoring this Glisten event. So proud of Melanie Willingham-Jaggers and @wilsoncruz.bsky.social’s leadership. Proud that @translash.org could be a sponsor for this wonderful event.
Yesterday @mayor.nyc.gov hosted a Pride Party with NYC Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ and it truly represented what New York City could be for the Queer and Trans community here. It was very inspiring being surrounded by all these amazing people. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
