250 years ago today, America was created. Then too there was all powerful executive whose dominance over everyday life seemed without end. Today we are reminded that nothing lasts forever, and that eventually power reaches its limits. The cause of freedom is still worthy.

Of the people. By the people. For the people.  In 1863, Abraham Lincoln used these words to define the American experiment. Today, 250 years after our founding, that definition is still our ultimate goal, and our unfinished work.

Sports has always been the entry point, but it is not the final stop. I’ve said this since I started covering the Hecox v. Little anti-trans sports case which the Supreme Court ruled on today.

On the last day of Pride Month, the Supreme Court has voted to allow states to bar transgender athletes from playing girls’ sports. Their stated goal is to deny constitutional protections for trans people, and this is just another box to check on their list.

Pride was a vibe and we’re outside!! There were so many people everywhere and at every event. This just goes to show that at times like this, we need each other now more than ever. So let’s keep that same energy across the entire LGBTQ+ community all year around!

Pride is the day that we remember how it all started. It’s the day we honor all of the courageous trans people who brought the entire community this far. And it’s the day we commit to not step one inch back because #Pride began as the #StonewallRiots. ❤️‍🩹✊🏾🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

#Juneteenth is Black and Trans. And in 2026 it takes on a whole new meaning given the political climate which is assaulting both identities simultaneously. But Juneteenth reminds us that no one is free until we are all free. There’s no Black freedom without trans freedom.

Yesterday @mayor.nyc.gov hosted a Pride Party with NYC Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ and it truly represented what New York City could be for the Queer and Trans community here. It was very inspiring being surrounded by all these amazing people. Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
