Completely agree. The Arday stuff is mind-boggling enough but for ACTUAL academics to go ON THE RECORD saying that plagiarism / fabrication / ignoring of ethic protocols “is fine really” is such a massive two fingers to professional standards that their employers should be very worried / vigilant

“Jason Arday has serious questions to answer” and “There is a racist campaign against Jason Arday” can both simultaneously be true.
Gotta love the incompetence here, especially with (3).
Dying at the right-wing activists that (1) held a call with Todd Blanche in which Blanche made a lot of anti-abortion promises, (2) said "uh this is off the record" like doing so would magically ward off journalists, and then (3) UPLOADED IT TO THEIR YOUTUBE CHANNEL www.politico.com/news/2026/08...
Talking to someone this morning about how early the blackberries are, and he pointed out that this means that the migrating birds are probably stuffed, because the autumn fruits are their fuel for migration, and they will be over by the time those birds are getting ready to fly... #ClimateCrisis
The right-wing wants to portray Black WNBA players as menacing precisely because they are the opposite of that; inclusive, welcoming, and proud to be so.
Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams: “There’s a lot of discourse around trans athletes and what they can compete in. I would welcome a trans athlete on my team or against my team. Anytime. I don’t think it’s a problem in the world, it’s just another way to kind of attack trans people.”
It’s the ‘value’ of whiteness granting preferential treatment.
I'm curious if David Goodhart considers me white
Peak Goodhart: literally the first citation in this is to Matt Goodwin's discredited "Great Replacement" fantasy. If you're trying to push your sanitised "non-racist" preference/ethnonationalism, perhaps don't start by linking to a far-right racist grifter? www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07...
I wonder how many violent mobs would assemble to terrorise innocent people if the news headlines read: Rampaging mob of nonces, paedophiles and domestic abusers attack homes in Thetford.
“The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members” – Unknown (misattributed to Mahatma Gandhi). In this country, people like to punch down.

Christopher Nolan's ‘THE ODYSSEY’ will pass $1 BILLION worldwide today.
Thank you, @terryjermymp.bsky.social, thank you. THIS is the way to address this. All lives are valuable and worthy of protection. Andy, Shabs, and Labour, *take the lesson*.
Local MP Terry Jermy does say what is necessary - but is missing from the Home Office media statement www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/art...
The police say: can not attack parts of the public, or the police protecting people from mobs [migrants, asylum seekers, or people who might look like they might be]. The report sounds like it prioritises violence vs police & sees xenophobic mobs requiring police to protect peopls as second order
In violence after Southport murders, a focus on misinfo & misidentification risked muting the core point: violence targeting people for fixed characteristic [ethnicity, faith, asylum] as collective punishment is wrong, [whatever identity a criminal perpetrator had] Thetford an example with no crime
BBC report on violent disorder in Thetford, Norfolk. A lot of effort to balance here re violence & anti-immig protest. What report describes violence targeting people's homes: whether the "alleged asylum seekers" are being misidentified or not is beside the point www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Arrests in Thetford as disorder continues for a third night
Norfolk Police attend a residential area in Thetford on Thursday as a third night of protests begins.

"The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy" - only if you're shouting racist, xenophobic hate speech and not if you're protesting genocide, apparently. Shabs, *they hate you for being brown*. You'd do well to remember that. No matter how much you side w/ them, you'll never be a gauri.
This is a really inadequate Home Office statement in these circumstancds It empathises with this protest as expressing legitimate concerns, singles out violence against police, and simply fails to say "violence threatening asylum seekers, migrants & other minorities is shocking + wrong"
2nd night of violent disorder as crowds of racists stormed 3 properties in Thetford believed to house asylum seekers Norfolk Police said some of the group "became physically aggressive towards officers: a male officer was struck with a rock, a female officer was seriously bitten, breaking the skin"

2 facts that get lost in the small boats debate: Almost 60% of all Channel crossing events have been stopped before they enter UK waters since July 24. Over 46k small boat crossing attempts have been prevented since July 24. We need proper safe routes provision, but enforcement has stepped up.
Trans people who lie sick, injured or maybe even dying deserve the same treatment as any cis person of their gender. This is an outrage to human dignity, and yet another moment of intense shame for the Labour Party in their crusade against trans people.
This is what happens when you let the Tories control anything. I love that Sadiq is using their own language -'anti-growth' - against them.
Have they never been to a Soho pub? How the hell would they enforce it?
Of course Fauci had to take the 5th on every question, & his lawyer,or any lawyer, would so insist. Once you start dancing with the devil on the color of the carpet or day of the week, you're on the path to a perjury trap. The outrage is so palpable given Fauci's exemplary record as a public servant
Rather concerningly, the lawyer for the Tate brothers has confused “extradition” with “execution”. Young lawyers note - be careful not to do this in court.
I have enormous sympathy with people angry that the political vandalism of our prison system is forcing the (even earlier) release of prisoners. It is a scandal. But deciding who does and does not get released on the basis of the volume of public outcry at their crime is the road to madness.

ok but pulitzer for whoever got this shot, it’s so good
Via Rachel Sylvester: "Michael Gove accused...Burnham of wanting to “bring back stupid” by putting a greater emphasis on vocational learning. Labour, he suggested...is “resolutely anti-intellectual"" The irony of a Tory, especially Gove, calling someone else 'anti-intellectual' is staggering.
