If you think Labour’s viciously transphobic schools “guidance” will not affect your child, because they are not trans, you are wrong. The Rights Respecting School is dead. This will affect all children in every school in the UK. If one child’s human rights are violated, it is a RRS for no-one.
When Section 28 ended, as a teacher I made my school a Rights Respecting School; it based its ethos & teaching on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The government’s anti-trans “guidance” means that, from 1st Sept being a Rights Respecting School will be impossible.
Why can't the government choose women over war?
James Murray on maternity care: "What I'm not going to do today, & I'll just be up front about this, I'm not going to say here's the funding, here's the timeline.." Ridge: thats what the govt has done on defence, so why can't you do the same when it comes to maternity care?
It’s places like these which have enabled Glasgow to become one of Europe’s great cultural cities. Spaces for creativity which are inclusive, community-led and free of the worst aspects of commercialisation are critically important – they are our cultural infrastructure, Patrick Harvie ✍️

It tells you everything you need to know about the state of British society when the Anne Frank Trust has to step in because of the dehumanising attacks on the LGBT community. What a disgrace we’ve become
After their most disastrous election in history … Labour have decided to drift ever further to the right? In Glasgow we greens got 11,000 more votes than Labour by being true to ourselves … when will they learn.
A Tory councillor who agreed to be struck off the teaching register after calling Nicola Sturgeon a 'drooling hag' has defected to Labour
👇This guidance is authoritarian and cruel and cements exclusion and segregation. It will cause real harm to trans people who have accessed these spaces and services for years without incident. greens.scot/news/mps-urg...

This seems to be a problem with a lot of the planning applications around new datacentres in Scotland. The blurb talks about harnessing local renewables but the details show that the significant investment needed to do that just isn't there. It's greenwashing, and it needs called out.
This is a problem that we really don't need in Scotland. It's insanity to sell ourselves out like this. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
The Scottish Government and Creative Scotland must commit to a proper future for the former CCA building - as a culture asset, in public hands and with a worker-led ethos. A sell-off would be deeply worrying. This is a critical first test for the new Culture Secretary. greens.scot/news/greens-...

How she has somehow framed herself as the victim of denying others the right to love and be loved is truly surprising.
Kate Forbes: I was 'slam dunk' for SNP leadership until revealing gay marriage views
Starmer doesn't control this. He will go down in history as the most anti-LGBTQ+ Prime Minister we've had since Thatcher.
412 MPs. An almost supermajority. And they can’t even find enough talent to form a government.
David Miliband is ready to serve in Andy Burnham’s Cabinet. Burnham is actively considering appointing him - possibly as foreign secretary with a seat in the Lords. My story for @theobserveruk.bsky.social observer.co.uk/news/politic...
One of the best ways to protect a city from heat is a *lot* more trees. It should be considered a necessary action for every city to be increasing tree coverage to protect their residents from extreme heat.
Hyperscale data centres are unwelcome developments, with huge energy use and environmental impact, all to enrich some of the world's worst people. Join our campaign to get the Scottish Government to call a halt and put clear planning rules in place to prevent this harm.
More than $10,000 has been donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital by organisations across a US city in a gesture of 'gratitude and friendship' following the 'unforgettable impact' the Tartan Army had on the area 👏

Even funnier fact. Anas Sarwar spent over 100x what I did in his constituency. He got 94 more votes than me 😭
Now that election expenses are back I can reveal that for every single one of my constituency votes (9003) each cost my team around 0.03 pence. Now that’s what an efficient ground game looks like 🤣
Me writing an article about Belfast, the place I've lived in for 40 years: fuck, what if I get that wrong, what if I've misunderstood that, fuck, fuck. Meanwhile...
Also interested to know how the Labour Party was forged out of the shipyards of Belfast, given the Labour Party has never stood for government in Belfast

i assume banning kids from social media will be accompanied by a huge investment in teen-friendly communtiy spaces (like youth clubs) and social activities? No? Huh.
16 years olds are apparently old enough to vote but not old enough to watch the results on social media.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer will introduce nightly social media curfews for 16 and 17-year-olds as part of the Government's social media ban [@thetimes]
Joining the chorus of disapproval for the under-16s social media ban. There *is* unhealthy usage and ill-effects in this age group, but this is the equivalent of dealing with school shootings by banning children from schools. Fix the platforms. They are poisoning *everyone*'s minds in the same way.

Labour have just had a catastrophic election result where they’re haemorrhaging votes to us. Of course Starmerism with a northern accent doesn’t understand this. He didn’t when he supported the Iraq war. He didn’t when he started the privatisation of the English NHS. And he doesn’t now.Shame!
Real change isn't going to be delivered by the status quo Labour Party - no matter the leader. 🥀 It's no surprise that yet another Labour politician is happy to cosplay as a socialist, but will mimic the worst of Tory policies to gain power.
‘I know what it was like to go hungry as a kid’ The UK Right to Food Commission is fighting for the 14m people going hungry in Britain. I spent time with them. They say shame surrounds food poverty and the more people speak of their own experiences the quicker we will tackle hunger So I’m speaking
