I had no idea that the phrase “Back to the old drawing board” comes from this Peter Arno cartoon from March 1st 1941’s New Yorker. It’s rather splendid to be able to date the birth of what would become part of everyday speech with such precision.

People far, far richer than she was spend their entire lives fighting not to pay more taxes on their luxury planes, and she was like, “You need band uniforms? Medical care? Books? A vaccine? Help after a natural disaster? I GOT MONEY.”

You know what I really resent? The anxiety boomerang, where you start to feel really a lot better about things, and you get on top of a lot of stuff and it’s awesome, and then BOOM your brain is like “but what if a tree falls on me? Have you checked all the trees?” It is so predictable.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.
