How quickly they shed all pretense of family values + Christian love.
I can easily block out the screams of neighbourhood kids and focus on my work. But I don't think parents want me to get used to a kid screaming. Happy to jump in and help a kid in danger. Shriek in fun. For sure. But keep that random terror scream for emergencies. I taught my kids the difference.

Around the turn of the twentieth century, the country had a "system of turns" in which two corrupt parties alternated control by mutual agreement. At the same time, the empire was collapsing due to incompetence.
You see, this is why I’m not on Twitter. I would struggle every day to resist playing whack-a-mole with obtuse and absurd takes on political economy. I am but one tiny human among many drowning in a sea of bullshit.

This is probably it. Why I like cats. If you care to observe, they tell you exactly what they want.

If you watch closely, they tell you exactly what they like and don’t like. If you listen and adjust your behaviour, they will let their guard down and prefer you. It’s easy, actually. Just be patient and consistent.
This is what I refer to as intentional obtuseness. When you see it, point it out and disengage.

There's a biological argument for unconditional basic income to be made based on how our decisions depend on factors beyond our control.
