Writing fiction in any genre should be a purely human exercise. If you use AI to generate *any* dialog, story ideas, character shapes, *anything* creative, you're betraying the very concept of artistic expression. This is a bright flashing red line for me. www.wired.com/story/the-bi...

‘Everyone Is Doing It’: The Truth About AI in Hollywood

Puck’s Matthew Belloni says AI has quietly become part of everyday filmmaking. The battle now isn’t whether Hollywood will use the technology—it’s who controls what’ll come next.

This is very on point from a Tigers perspective, Scott Harris fuckin sucks at this from a MLB roster construction perspective. It’s professional malpractice they they couldn’t do more with Skubal or with this team in general.

For the night owls: I've written up the transaction analysis for the Skubal trade at @baseballprospectus.com, with the help of @jeffreypaternostro.bsky.social on the prospect side. It's free to read with a basic sub, but as a summary: It's a bummer, but not for the reason you might think.

Would have been nice to get someone who is actually major league ready to step in and pitch RIGHT NOW but I guess beggars can’t be choosers (especially when said beggars chose to completely shit the bed when it comes to building a roster to actually compete this season).

Trade is now official. River Ryan assigned to Triple-A Toledo and placed on IL while he recovers from hamstring injury. Zyhir Hope assigned to Double-A Erie. Brady Smith assigned to High-A West Michigan.

That feeling when you have to immediately check every MLB notification just to find out when “It” is going to happen but the it turns out to be a a different trade, Scott Harris just needs to fucking get it over with already and put Tigers fans out of our misery.

MLB notification about Casey Mize being scratched from his start tonight.

The Cubs question may be “How Soon Is Now?,” but Detroit fans are saying “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before”: The Tigers are selling “This Charming Man” at the deadline. Oh well, they suck. “What Difference Does It Make?”

A report saying the Chicago Cubs are interested in acquiring Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal before Monday’s MLB trade deadline has fans thinking big.

"Olney added: 'They dropped to four games behind in the Wild Card race, and their playoff chances are down to 25 percent.'" 25%? My brother in Christ, the Tigers had a 5.4% chance to make playoffs on July 28, 2024. There are plenty of reasons to trade Skubal but 25% playoff odds isn't one of them!

Tigers are ‘super close’ to trading Tarik Skubal, Yankees expected to be involved www.nj.com/yankees/2026...

A SIGNIFICANT number of replies to this are like "I haven't seen the film but she's SO RIGHT for this!" Anyway, I think this argument specifically is flawed because The Odyssey is about Odysseus. If you want a movie about the victims, make The Iliad. Not every movie can center every perspective!

7. The film centers Odysseus's guilt over his war crimes, but never shows us the POV of his victims, and instead glorifies the perpetrator for feeling bad about himself. I found this unsatisfying ethically and worse, imaginatively, because Damon's character is given only one mood (Troubled).
