my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop

Genuine democracy means that everyone who's a citizen votes. The US is one of the worst offenders claiming to be a democracy in this respect. For example, Yigal Amir, the assassin of Yitzhak Rabin, has continued to vote from prison. That's how it should be.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced Friday that she has restored voting rights for 66,085 people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to vote due to past felony convictions. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

This. Absolutely. No debate. This. I tell people all the time: "It's your world and welcome to it." It's not your role as a creator to get hung up on "canon", no matter what the fanatics online might say about what's "right" or "wrong" about your creation. It's your creation, adaptation or no.

1. Creators, including screenwriters, can and should do their own thing, especially when adapting a myth. Euripides adapted the end of the Iliad for the Athenian tragic stage using a different meter and different lexicon from Homer's, for a different genre and a different time. That's fine!

My biggest issue with soccer has always been that there were too many incredible goals scored 40 seconds after a marginal foul happened on the other side of the field. So glad they fixed this.

Absolutely this. "I don't know shit about how a) the game works, b) officiating works and c) FIFA works, but I'm going to sit here and pontificate about things like "respecting the game" and "sportsmanship" because I have an easy window to take what I think is the moral high ground."

Useful exercise is scrolling back and through anyone, especially verified accounts, posting stuff like this and see how far back you have to go to find anything about sports
