If you show up to Bluesky without following anyone, you'll be treated to a series of posts about art, music, and dogs. If you show up to X without following anyone, you'll be bombarded with right-wing conspiracies and white supremacist slop. It's weird which one is seen as a "political bubble"
The framing that women’s rights are “minority rights” is especially revealing. Women are 51% of the US population. We’re not a minority. What women share with actual minorities is the idea that women are not fit to be full members of the political community.
As I walk thro the Kings Cross tube station, that all the META glass adverts feature women and not men does not surprise me one iota
Re: pervert glasses. Should it occur to anyone that they might use them to film court or tribunal proceedings, don’t do that. It’s a criminal offence.
JUST IN: Staff reportedly increasingly concerned that companies are hiring them for the value of their output, as opposed to their wellbeing and development.
Its embarrassing how many grown ass adults live in these fantasies where people work for some nonsense like the artificial cultures oligarchs manufacture over survival.
Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Reminded me of this brilliant Letzte Generation come-back (from around 2023): ‘We are allowed to do this. We have a tractor.’ 👌🏻👏🏻
🚨🚨 Important clarification: there is no legal basis under the #Schengen Code or the Treaties for unilaterally suspending the Schengen agreement against another EU MS under these circumstances. #ceuta www.euronews.com/my-europe/20...
Breaking news. - Italy suspends Schengen with Spain over Ceuta migrant crisis
The temporary suspension of the Schengen agreement was prompted by concerns over the migrant crisis in Ceuta. #EuropeNews

What started with stereotypes and slurs ended with a 3-year-old being sent to a gas chamber. The historical lines linking “just words” and violence are straight and bold.
3 August 1940 | A French Jewish girl, Raymonde Levy, was born in Finistère. In October 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber. --- ▶ Gas chambers and crematoria of the Auschwitz camp: https://youtu.be/-A05i25j9Ck
When you hear of an incident between foreign countries, a good rule of thumb is to start with it likely has local causes. Spain and Morocco have their own shit. It’s not a dastardly (((globalist))) plot to make Europe less aryan, nor a dastardly Zionist plot to get Spain back for verbal criticism.
I disagree. Le Pen hasn’t instigated a coup d’état. Meloni does not have track record of openly racist remarks. And Orbán accepted his electoral defeat. Not to say that Europeans would no longer vote for these leaders if they did, but we simply don’t know yet. Trump is much more extremist!
Tl;dr: Americans have trouble understanding there is ~nothing unique about Trump. He is part of the broad wave of far right parties/politicians since 2008 across rich democracies. Our institutions just suck more. Europeans have trouble understanding there is ~nothing unique about Trump. See above.
The USA is at the same time a nuclear armed superpower, and one of the most ridiculous states in the history of the world.
The interesting thing about school closures during covid (agree with them or not) is they had much less impact on long-term academic outcomes than people expected (me included). But much more long-term impact on mental health and attendance.
Correcting bullshit about EU immigration law

Much fuss about basically nothing ? The Ceuta situation once again showed that if European leaders could have waited a day or so before reacting, the whole thing could’ve basically been solved amicably. The real-time outrage loops and need to react to everything IMMEDIATELY is a huge issue
Teils faktenfreies Spanien-Bashing. Man muss festhalten: Friedrich Merz fiel hier beinahe positiv auf.

The "mainstream" discourse on Ceuta shows quite clearly how the discourse has shifted, how norms and humanity have eroded, and how fear of (or perhaps, agreement with) the far right shapes the politics and discourse of the day.
Since some keyboard warrior told me that "Morocco will just stop trading with the EU" if we don't do as we're told: #Ceuta
The EU - Morocco trade relationship
It's been such an idiotic drama, and the only thing that needed discussion was the geopolitical punishment for the Moroccan government's act of sheer stupidity
1. Almost no one who stormed into Ceuta in the last days will get into the EU. 2. Hysteria in the wider EU over Ceuta will blow over. 3. The row over securing Ceuta will remain a political hot potato between PSOE, PP and Vox. 4. The bigger loser from this mess will be Morocco
Spanien verfügt - im Gegensatz zur EU - über ein bilaterales Rückübernahmeabkommen mit Marokko. 48.300 der 50.000 Migranten sind - gemäß Innenministerium - bereits wieder retour in Marokko.
