Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

This was my prediction 8 months ago. I think it’s borne out pretty well so far: Telling the GOP and Trump to fuck off is the strongest position for a Democratic candidate this year. It just happens that lefties are able to do that more than centrists because their agenda scares the right more.

My prediction is that 2026 will be the year of progressive challengers. Not bc Dem voters are all socialists, but bc the question that will determine the fate of incumbents in primaries is:“Will you fight hard against Trump?” Easier for candidates with lefty stances to make the “yes” case.

In the absence of King Baby I have become something of a transitional object for Anaïs & it's really getting under Ambrose's skin. I can't help myself from petting her whenever she demands it, her fur is so soft. & her attention is so brittle that it only takes a second or 2 before she's off again

Where Ambrose is as sweet & chill as hell, Anaïs is... Anaïs is more like a Sean Young figure It's why we get along. To the extent that we do

That picture with Ambrose is one of my will time favorites. They're calling it a "mini-stroke" & he thinks he'll be home tomorrow. I hope he's right!
