I think writing Brides in the Dark fundamentally changed my writing style. At least, it taught me I could put sappy stuff in the middle of the dark stuff I usually write. This is from SAMANTHAS (2027, Laughing Man House).

I don't think we give enough credit to how perfect a toy idea the Transformers were. You take a truck, something little kids were already playing with, and it turns into a great big guy who can punch people. And there's a bunch of them that all turn into different things. A fighter jet. A bulldozer.

The average iHeart Radio ad break: "Hi, I'm [D-List Nobody]. Listen to my new podcast about [Shit Nobody Cares About], a show for [Nonexistent Audience]. [*Insert the most boring clip imaginable from an episode.*] Tune in every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday for new groundbreaking conversations."

Whenever I'm talking about books I love I'm like "THIS IS AMAZING YOU MUST READ IT TRUST ME!" but then when it comes time to promote my own I'm all "SORRY FOR MAKING YOU PERCEIVE ME BUT DO YOU WANNA READ MY BOOK? NO BIG DEAL IF YOU DON'T SORRY TO BOTHER YOU BYEE" Anyway, check out Shiva if you want

I normally don't jump into current uproars or discourse, but as someone in the Query Trenches I'm mad about the "Shy Girl" debacle. This is not my first time querying (tho I'm furthest w/ this one) and I've notice a HUGE difference. It's harder, agents don't reply, they are overwhelmed & burnt out.
