I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary

So excited I get to scheme square and learn Writing and Teaching from Brandon Walshhhh (aka talk more about ttrpgs of course!) #GamesBasedDHpedagogy #DHMakes #CriticalMaking

Fun times this week scheming with @jajrk.bsky.social on a new project: a card game for teachers to work with students to co-create better, alternative visions for AI futures than the ones we are told are inevitable. Play and storytelling in the classroom for destabilizing narratives by/of power.

I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care”

I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.

A Duty of Care (with Dr. Emily Friedman) - Season 7 - Dropout

Ring the bells this just became VERY Digital Humanities-y with @friede.bsky.social talking about all the Spreadsheets of Data for her book + Positionally on Facts, Institutions, People's Feelings Academics have a duty of care 😭 my heart, even as I am battling uncritical AI adoption

As scholars and journalists start to write more about data center noise politics, I hope they'll consider the precedents — the history of noise abatement activism + regulation, the whole history of zoning (which is in large part about sensory regulation), etc.

It’s so exciting to start this journey with @walshbr.bsky.social, @plach.bsky.social and @emgrumbach.bsky.social. Many many many thanks to @nolauren.bsky.social and Andy Janco for leaving us such a strong foundation. So much good work to come!

Yesterday @regan008.bsky.social started our term as @ach.bsky.social co-VPs, and the exec meeting was so lovely and exciting. Outgoing co-Presidents @nolauren.bsky.social and Andy Janco have done such a great job and set us up well.

Excited & awed to begin my term as @ach.bsky.social Co-President with the incredible + brilliant @emgrumbach.bsky.social. Together with our amazing Co-VPs @walshbr.bsky.social & @regan008.bsky.social, we'll continue the work of those before us to nurture ACH as a community of care & solidarity. 1/
