Just finished an advance copy of Emily Ruth Capper's Happening Pedagogy: Allan Kaprow’s Experiments in Instruction, which is such a smart, heartening complement to Rachel Sagner Buurma + Laura Heffernan's The Teaching Archive, reminding us that so much impt thinking happens in the CLASSROOM...

This Friday 8/7, don't miss our last summer event: the online+free #ByteSizedPedagogy, on @seagillicuddy.bsky.social's "DH Ghost Towns: What Happens When Makers Abandon Their Creations?" (read in Debates in DH: dhdebates.gc.cuny.edu/read/what-we...)

Done with the book manuscript. Took me a year, which not bad. This is not exactly the book I promised the press. Now to convince them that I'm not insane. Hopefully they won't get cold feet, and I have to spend extra time finding one that gets it.🤞🏼

Image of the cover of the manuscript. The title reads Césaire Unbound: An Essay on the Fragments of a Poem (1941–1944) by Alex Gil.Table of contents, page 1. The table includes Frontmatter and Chapters with page numbers.Table of Contents page 2. The table continues the list of chapters and includes the Backmatter

Now here's a challenge for the men of @ach.bsky.social: volunteer to be next in line for secretary and mix things up so it's not always women and enbies doing that work. The last male secretary was Stéfan Sinclair from 2004-2007. It's been 20 years, my dudes!

Sarah Werner@wynkenhimself.bsky.social · 4d ago

Hoo boy when I was the Secretary on a board and couldn’t find a man to take my place when my term ended because having to do that work of metacognition was too feminized

In chapter 4 of Middlemen now. Going slowly because it is mostly my reading while bottle feeding the six-month-old. Really powerful mix of archival work, sociological method, zooming in for literary analysis of canonical examples. Quite inspiring. Also it’s very funny. Hard to do in academic work!!

So excited I get to scheme square and learn Writing and Teaching from Brandon Walshhhh (aka talk more about ttrpgs of course!) #GamesBasedDHpedagogy #DHMakes #CriticalMaking

Fun times this week scheming with @jajrk.bsky.social on a new project: a card game for teachers to work with students to co-create better, alternative visions for AI futures than the ones we are told are inevitable. Play and storytelling in the classroom for destabilizing narratives by/of power.

Please consider writing a piece for this volume on Africana Digital Humanities at HBCU’s. I’ve worked with each of the editors, and they are all top notch humans! ( please circulate as well)

Chapter call for charting new terrains- a book on Africana digital humanities at hbcus. Oct 1 2026 deadline for an abstract at the theeadhlab@gmail.com

Ring the bells this just became VERY Digital Humanities-y with @friede.bsky.social talking about all the Spreadsheets of Data for her book + Positionally on Facts, Institutions, People's Feelings Academics have a duty of care 😭 my heart, even as I am battling uncritical AI adoption

Gods bless the venn diagram of my games-based pedagogy academic nerdery 😭🥹 @friede.bsky.social @dimension20.dropout.tv @brennanleemulligan.bsky.social "there's something magical about the emergent" 🌻 "teaching is the greatest improv of my life"🌿

I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care”

I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.
