My friend Simon has just sent me this astonishing poem that was in his local (Exeter branch) Wetherspoons magazine.
One of my favourite paintings, 'A Seated Woman Looking at a Child Through a Window', a ghostly 17th century work by the enigmatic Jacobus Vrel. Next to nothing is known about the artist, did he even exist? More than enough room for a Schalcken the Painter style BBC Ghost Story, I would've thought..!

Half watching The Cassandra Crossing, which has some very awkward blocking and editing. This moment, when Burt Lancaster’s army man is alerted the dog has recovered from a virus, left me speechless with laughter - it’s the edit to the dog.
Finally, he's settled down. He's been running himself stupid in the heat.
First proper dog walk back since getting home from the holiday. I've missed the hairy nitwit and it's good to be out on a walk.
We went to see Stewart Lee on his latest tour last night. An excellent night, pretty much laughed all the way through.
