Creative & performing arts subjects received £16.8 million SPG 2024-25; £12.9 million in 2025-26; £ O million in 2026-27. The University of Creative Arts will thus lose half of its government funding this year; Art University Bournmouth 40.7%, Norwich U of Arts 40.4% and Leeds Arts U 30.3%. 1/2

AMS is a great airport to transit through as long as you are not heading to a Schengen country. ICN - AMS - NCL avoids all that passport checking, photo, fingerprinting nonsense. Glad I've got a more than 3hr connection just in case. When will travel websites sort results by length of connection?

Achievement unlocked. Bought some stuff in a GS25 at ICN T2 which brought my t-money balance down under 20,000 which meant that they could then refund the rest of the card. Balance now 0.

This seems like a better name for them.

I love this place in Daejeon Station, and the menu on the sliding doors is great However, from observation, they don't seem to do jam and clotted cream with the scones.

Does anyone want* a complete run of pure mathematics journals from the 1960s to fairly recent ... asking for a parent who should have got rid of them a decade ago. Sigh. * Collection only, SW Ontario. And no, I don't expect anyone really does.

For the past week at #dh2026 we’ve watched people queue for hours in a heatwave to get into the very viral Sungsimdang Cake Boutique in #Daejeon As the conference ended I walked past and at 7pm there was no queue! A fab way to end the week. Can report the chocolate cake was 🤤

Our relationship to visual evidence is being profoundly disrupted by GenAI tools, which will impact how we know, what we can know, and what we think can be known about the world. A massive epistemological shift is upon us.

I used to do some work on the ethical use of satellite and drone imagery for aid and disaster response, and it is genuinely hard to express in words what a dangerous, stupid thing Google is doing by making it easy to use GenAI to create faked satellite imagery:

What I received from the #DH2026 keynote today is that the humanities should resist turning from: L - P - L' (or P - L - P' in the ideal world I suppose) To: L - L' (L = Learning; P = Practice) Because if all we do is the latter, we will be screwed in the age of AI.

I love how #Gemini (and other #LLMs) *still* blatantly lie about being able to read content at URLs, though sometimes they tell you they can't, other times they tell you they can. When they appear to do so, it is an illusion, based on previously ingested material. (When not RAG etc obvs.)
