I'm a huge fan of archaeological photos where we get our first peek at objects in the field. Here, a 1st c. CE marble monopodium (table base) in the form of a naked boy holding a goose appears out of the lapilli in #Pompeii in 1952. 🏺 #ancientbluesky 1/ 📸 left, me; right, see ALT

Spectacular crenulated turbidites of the Halifax Formation (Meguma Terrane), Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia. These strata were laid down in the Ordovician in the southern hemisphere and deformed during the Devonian Neoacadian Orogeny, as Meguma accreted to the North America margin. ⚒️

We don't need to just change strategies. In many ways we already continuously change both strategies and tactics. Wildland fire is no longer a "let's get it done--put your head down and dig line" operation, but by necessity has evolved into a "let's figure it out" mindset. But that has a cost. 1/
