On a #preprint roll! 🎉 doi.org/10.31234/osf... This one has been a long time in the making, with the 1st version dating back to my PhD. Very grateful the team came back together—thanks to @jamestrujillo.bsky.social and @judithholler.bsky.social . Happy to finally share it! 1/🧵

Happy to return to Orléans to take part in the Interaction and Inclusion workshop yesterday, talking about sign language recogniton. Many interesting and inspiring talks from perspectives I haven't seen before! Thanks for the invitation and your hospitality Katja Ploog & @biagioursi.bsky.social !

View out the window. A courtyard under a sunny sky with some clouds. A cathedral stands on the right side of the courtyard.A fancy stone staircase lined with paintings and statues. A sign is posted in front, advertising the day of "Interaction and Inclusion"

what's the point of writing this? arguing (also to myself) that i) exploration is good, it doesn't need to lead to outputs! ii) models/research fail! and that can be insightful! but also if not insightful, that's still how research works! iii) sharing curiosity-driven efforts and excitement!

There are a lot of barriers associated with getting a diagnosis, and doubts about whether it's worthwhile. This is a really nice overview of why it *can* be worthwhile to get that confirmation

Thanks for having me at ACORPO! It was great to discuss methods for analyzing corpora, and meet many new people! Also great to hear that so many are also thinking about how to open up data and have more collaborative language science!
