When using Microsoft Word or Google Docs, don't just make text bigger and bolder to make it a heading. That will work for sighted users, but screen reader users will miss that and just hear it as normal paragraph text. Use actual heading styles, like level 1 through 6.
9 hour wait at Hamilton ED this morning, or $140 for the 3 hour wait at A&E. Boy, it would be nice if our health system wasn't fucked eh
Whenever someone sends me AI-generated work, it always increases my workload at least 2x. However, the biggest problem is that they’re completely incapable of discussing their work as I try to make heads or tails of it, largely because they didn’t do the work in the first place.
Part one of my investigation into a group of young men trying to import “remigration” into New Zealand politics www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3610...
The young men behind New Zealand’s new far-right movement
An investigation reveals how young Kiwi activists are using global far-right tactics to target local migrant communities.

Currently reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and it is a good call. Good for people who like Jane Austen, and also people who like Raymond E Feist. #booksky
Six months several of you told me to read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and credit to you all, that was a good call
The inability to understand that The Odyssey's Cyclops is metaphorical reveals a lack of depth perception.
Stuart Nash's political rebirth lasted all 5.3 Scaramucci's.
The framing od this article and its position at the top of Stuff is very dumb www.stuff.co.nz/home-propert...
"Whoa are we gonna cast as the goblin king?" "I dunno. What do we know about goblins?" "I'm pretty sure they're hot as hell."
David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King in Labyrinth.
Probably true. "What is likely to happen, I expect, is that a non-member broadcaster will do something terrible and it will be a scandal that there’s no standards regime and the government will have to reinvent one." www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3610...
The BSA is facing abolition, but what comes next?
OPINION: So the Government has decided to abolish the Broadcasting Standards Authority. Various people are crowing about it.

PSA If you own a domain e.g. mybusiness.co.nz then you can get the email myname@mybusiness.co.nz and forward it to your Gmail for essentially free. You can even sent mail "from" that address from your personal Gmail. You should never need to paint mybusiness@gmail.com on the side of your van!
The irony is that the BSA has for years bent over backwards to preserve "robust" opinion on talk radio when it considers complaints. Plunket would likely have got away with a bit of official hand-wringing.
This month I bought 4 indie books & 1 traditionally published one. Honestly, I’ve been more impressed than disappointed. Visibility in publishing has so much to do with marketing budgets, reach, & hype. I can’t tell you how many mega trending books haven’t lived up to it. #AuthorSky #BookSky
When I began my editing career, I often changed “utilize” to “use.” For the past eight years or so, I’ve been changing “leverage” to “use.” Now I’m changing “use case” to the noun “use.” What do you people have against “use” in its various forms? It’s a perfectly fine word.
Remember couchsurfing? That was like open source Airbnb. Best times of my life. Man, fuck Airbnb.
Who has the energy to capitalise every word in a post that long?

Have had several clients ask me to get AI to make their website do a simple "if X then Y" task that could be achieved with like 15 lines of JavaScript or a free plugin.
“I used AI to combine the data from two excel lists and then send emails to people who were on one list but not another. Saved me so much time.” My brother in academia, you just fucking discovered mail merge. Welcome to early nineties computing.
If you send me a document with two spaces after every period, the first thing I’m doing is find/replace all.
Why are we funnelling $165 million to private corporate equity telehealth providers like Tend Health and Aratataki again? Telehealth is falling far short of expectations, with fewer patients using the service than predicted— & it’s not easing pressure on New Zealand’s EDs
If there were just one thing, *one* thing, that a hands-off technocrat CEO should be good at, it would be knowing who their executives are and what they're good at.
What I'd just say to you Tama, I mean Tova, how many Maori National Party MPs do we have in the cabinet you ask. It's a number. #LyinLuxon #WorstPMever #NZpol
Following @papango.bsky.social because they have a macron (clearly Aotearoan) and commented about Dune on a William Gibson skeet (clearly my mind of nerd)
