Initially I was frustrated with the rise of self-checkout but I appreciated how stores passed the savings on to me rather than pocket the money, fire armies of workers & make me do a job I suck at. It’s also why I’m optimistic about AI! I have been kicked in the head by several horses.

When I babysit little kids they often want me to give their toys a kiss goodnight and tuck them in to bed, too. This is that, but for adults. Except no kid ever tried to convince me Teddy was smart, or could do my job. Still have to indulge the fantasy to keep the peace.

Not to be some wild-eyed innocent, but I think it should be slightly bigger news that The Lancet have crunched the numbers and found that Musk's USAID cuts will kill 14 million people. And that's just by 2030. That's 9,600 people a day, every day, until the next world cup rolls around.

The discipline of distinguishing Hinduism, which filled that arena with legitimate joy, from Hindutva, the political production that harvested it.
