Guys will listen to male influencer bullshit about needing to have a six pack and manipulate everyone and meanwhile women will go “you know who is the sexiest fucking guy I’ve ever seen?” and post this

Car-free streets are not only safer for people walking and cycling, but they are also better for public health because they reduce air pollution and noise pollution. This is supported by a recent study of a street in Canada that is closed to car traffic during certain hours on summer weekends.

Car-free streets reduce noise and air pollution. More cities should have them

Pedestrianized spaces can help support local businesses, give public spaces back to people and retrieve them from cars.

MSc and PhD students are the workforce in the engine room of our public research system. They are very, very cheap labor by policy design. This talk about a 'cost blowout' is utter rubbish. We frown on company owners that charge people to get a job. We should be doing the same here. #NZPOL

Cost blowout puts fees for foreign PhD students under review

A blow-out in the cost of treating foreign PhD students like locals has prompted a rethink of the long-standing policy and a cap on spending next year.

You know that thing where people tell you, don't talk about what you're working on or new workout plans, because it'll feel the same as actually doing it? Vibecoding gives a sense of productivity indistinguishable to you from actually *being* productive.

This whole thread is very true, at least for personalities like mine. I got badgered with lazy questions about data trends so I ended up spending a day writing a reproducible data set that answers 95% of those queries. One thing the LLMs get is permission. Humans can't write macros, GenAI can.

Similar to how the best way to learn a new keyboard layout is to switch to it and then get in an argument online, the best way to learn how to program (not a specific language) is to have a mound of annoying and soul-destroyingly repetitious grudgework to do.

I hate that we have to take these foul people seriously because our sunfish PM gave them policy power. "5% of the population thinks only healthy rich kids deserve an education? They are welcome to their wrong opinion. Simple solutions suit simplistic people."

Oh this is absolutely terrible. Neurodivergent kids are going to be even further excluded… If this policy was in place before the 8yo was diagnosed (which the system wouldn’t do until he was 6), he would’ve been stood down multiple times in his first couple of years at school. 1/n
