I finally had the chance to visit the old oceanic testing facility at the former Bell Labs, and it was even more excellent than expected. Creepy basement and all!

The Jon Bon Jovi service area on the Garden State Parkway commits like 80%, but should just go all in
I don’t know how she felt about Hansard, but I find myself thinking a lot about Sinead O’Connor these past few days. She tried to warn everyone about everything and was destroyed for it.
Neko Case, on point as always. And as a fellow bottom-dweller, the part about the class system for women rings especially true nekocase.substack.com/p/in-what-fu...
IN WHAT FUCKING UNIVERSE?
This last week I was just cookin’ along minding my business when I suddenly found myself quite depressed.

Anyway, since I’m always annoying my own brain by trying to come up with clearer and more specific wording for my own opinions: I reject the notion that LLMs can be deployed “responsibly” at scale and believe that anybody claiming otherwise is fooling themselves, conning you, or possibly both
I’m not sure whether this is just a psychological difference or AI bros fundamentally don’t understand the nature of an artistic experience, but: I don’t want a personalised film/book/podcast. I want to see/read/hear the same one as everyone else, so I can read reviews or discuss it with my friends
The difficulty some people are having around Hansard is like…I don’t know what planet some folks are from, but at no point was it ever acceptable for a grown man to “fall in love” with a child. It was gross at the time and yes, a lot of us talked about it as horrifying.
I have nothing useful to say except that bumper boats are more fun than they should be
My entire instagram feed is Jimothy and I’m pretty happy about it
Josephine forgot the word “mistake” and she keeps saying “everybody makes problems”
I’m sorry but is the dipshit version of Connolly Books thing…real? It’s the most undergraduate Phil Bro thing imaginable
I think it’s fair to say that the winners of the whole tournament are: The Tartan Army Algerians and Kansas folks Haaland (and the whole Norwegian team because he seems like someone who would be sad if he got all the credit) Cape Verde
I can’t watch the actual match, so just reloading bluesky and begging the universe to send a miracle
Things you can demand at the boring meeting: - That a permit for a data center be denied - That the town do an Environmental Impact assessment - That the planning dept push for zoning changes=more housing - That the governing body provide childcare for the next boring meeting so more people can come
if you want to see climate action happen? and you’re not engaging with your local government? on the most local possible level? missed opportunity. for real get in there and go to some boring meetings
Oh to be a little Tardigrade walking across a microscope slide. 🫧🐻🧪
Some days it really hits me just how many unlikely good things I’ve managed to get, made all the more unlikely by a lot of previous bad things, and spending a rainy day in the Boston Museum of Science with my kid is basically all of them at once
Flying to Boston today, kinda hoping a bunch of happy Norwegians are on the Copenhagen-Boston leg (yes I know they’re playing in Miami, but let me pre-experience delight!)
Still unemployed & it’s been hard catching up with finances. In need of help with rent, bills, & medications. If you can help financially or share this post, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.💛 - paypal.me/conniechiiiwa - venmo.com/u/conniechii... - buymeacoffee.com/conniechiiiwa
It's a rematch of 793 AD, when viscous Viking warriors brutalized St Cuthbert's monastery and began the Viking invasion of England
Actually quite delighted for Norway. Haaland seems like a sweetheart and it’s fun to root for a smaller country (albeit a very wealthy one that invests a ton in sports)
Just woke up and “watching” the game on my bluesky feed, which is a bit like listening to sports on the radio but it’s like 400 different commentators
A message to researchers in software engineering: before you start your research into ‘AI’ in development, ask yourselves: are you helping developers or AI companies?
Asking how people can partake in joyful acts during a period of immense suffering leads me to believe this is your first time at the suffering rodeo.
it's unfortunate that trump is back in power during the nation's 250th *and* while we're hosting the world cup, both would've been vastly improved by a better president, but it is what it is, and i don't think wearing a hairshirt to satisfy people online whom i'll never meet is really necessary

Listen, I’m not anti-sports, I think World Cup good vibes are a delight. I just don’t watch the actual games, but do we know yet whose fans will be all over Boston next week?
Another kid zoombomb was averted today. I did a live TV item for a Singaporean news network, and had partner take kiddo out to the park. When he showed her that mommy was on TV, she demanded they rush home in time so she could be on TV, too. Thankfully, the item was done by the time they got home.
