It's just not the case that conservatives alone value "family." They do value it--but they often have rules for which kinds of families count in their minds, and which do not. The liberal value of family embraces families with structures other than traditional and nuclear.

“White collar crime shouldn’t pay” lost out to “lol but it does.” No one should be puzzled about why people are pessimistic about the economy. An economy where criminality defines the ruling class is a depressing economy.

The world where saving prudently wins? It might be gone forever, and probably it didn’t exist for a lot of people. But that was the world we should have wanted, and the one we should have fought to provide for everyone.
