The single most useful part of LLMs after code work is being able to point them at a subject and say "explain this to me step by step like I'm simple" and then pushback and force them to cite each part until you actually understand the original piece.

Advice for AuDHD early career researchers: You’ve already been doing PhD-level research for more than a decade now in your spare time, about nerdy stuff that most people don’t get or care about. When you have to research *for real*, don’t think that depth or level of commitment isn’t enough. It is!

This trend is almost certainly driven by Steam, but my 2 cents from making the switch this year after trying and failing a couple of years ago: LLM-driven troubleshooting is an absolute game-changer and removes almost all of the remaining nuisance of using it.

I think a stateless society definitely is possible, if the specific issue that has driven their evolution (war) becomes less important! I also think that it makes very little sense to strategize around as a goal, as we have functionally no power to make it happen.

I can’t really overestimate how much the belief that every racist is a drooling idiot has hindered the ability to address the many problems that stem from it. The ability to effectively strategize to reach goals and having a moral center are not related, and folks can’t seem to grasp this.
