Tight Swedish election results but still deeply satisfying to see SD losing ground for the first time. May this trend continue.
The 2022 Swedish election was a famous cliff-hanger, decided by just 0.7%. With over 50% of districts reporting tonight, Swedish Television prognosis predicts that the 2026 Swedish election, with over 8 million votes cast, could be decided by as few as 20,000 votes. Or 0.2%.
Christian Christensen@chrchristensen.bsky.social · 2w agoLatest prognosis from Swedish Television, unlike the exit poll from 2 hours ago where the Left-Green-Center held a clear lead, now puts the Swedish election as basically a dead heat. New prognosis puts the Left-Green-Center bloc as holding a 1 seat lead in parliament. This will be a long process.
This weekend the Swedes will vote for a new parliament. The center-left opposition block has been leading but it will be tight. If the right block wins, the far-right SD’s strategy will pay off and they will (formally) enter government for the first time in history.

I am absolutely appalled by the POGROMS in Belfast. But it is lazy to just blame social media. POGROMS have been around for centuries. They are rooted in racism, which is fueled by elites. Look at Reform, Tories, and, yes, Labour. Look at GB News, Times, and BBC, before starting about Tik Tok.

Update here. This was passed because two MPs in the far right Swedish Democrats ignored parliamentary pairing praxis (where opposing MPs sit out votes to keep the math fair when other parties are absent). SD brought in two additional MPs instead of abstaining to gain the votes to reject the bill.

This is a devastating decision for thousands of people who have waited 24+ months for their citizenship to be processed. A horrible precedent that stains Sweden's reputation as a country with a strong rule of law.
