I mean, adjusted for inflation a plane ticket from New York to London in 1980 would cost about $4,500 dollars today. It's not that air travel has got worse. It's democratised. If you pay the 'old' price in modern money you basically get the same, if not better, experience than you did then.

AI is very good at mimicking humans, which makes it useful for people who create things. But I would also consider what it does to the creators if they begin to trust AI too much.

Electrical installations were once dangerous and harmful. In some places they may still be.
Going to do a thread, using some of my own (incl. older) work, to clear up some of these relevant concepts. Hope it helps builds conceptual hygiene and immunity to hyped claims about “AI” capabilities. 1/🧵

England privatized their water system in 1989 and although it has improved in some respects, it wasn't able to solve these problems. Now Scotland is expected to bail them out. I'm not saying privatization can never work, but here it certainly didn't. A lesson for everyone considering it.
