So, Friday morning I disposed of the old desk I needed to replace w/ the new one I'd had for a while. Friday afternoon the moisture remediation contractor arrived. He said my A/C needed to be replaced ASAP to control temperature for his equipment. A friend helped me locate and install one. 1/6

It looks like the Mirtazapine is finally got me going where I want to go, mood-wise. The week of paradoxical worsening of depression was rough, but if I keep on this trend it'll have been more than worth it. This morning I caught myself singing along to silly songs I had on when doing chores. 1/2

Talked to the insurance company about the leak from the neighbor above (discovered sunday). It's a no fault situation. So I'll have to pay my deductible and do all the paperwork. Bleh.

Well, it looks like that part time online thing came through. They have some paid onboarding stuff. The first module took me nearly 6 hours. It was quite frustrating. The second one looks like it'll be similar. I'll do the second one sometime next week.

It is particularly important not to think some statistical model is a dead loved one. THEY ALREADY DEPARTED; YOU ARE TALKING TO A MODEL (and a model of a small fraction of what your loved one did to boot). (and you’ll to say goodbye anyway when the product is discontinued.)

If we argue that companies need to be bailed out because of the metrics of the sub-prime mortgage crisis, then yes, AI companies will need to be bailed out... if Microsoft implodes, we will not have normal banking systems in place any more for a while. So this is a problematic frame, right?

I just spent an hour trying to fix my dad’s year-old HP printer so it can AirPrint and I am once again struck by how disinterested the AI people are in improving our lives by using their little models to fix things and not just destroy learning, art, and work

Do things when you’re able to do them, so that when you are incapable of doing them anymore, you can think back on a fond memory and not a glum regret.
