he/him, Birds, Birbs, Borbs, Accessibility, music, TTRPG, WWFC, Vermont Green FC (UTFG!), Orioles, geek, left of left of left of center, WRUV-fm, greyhounds (save them all), AI slop = block; Life's what you make it; just one victory and we're on our way

How do I know Hegseth’s order to deny access to bases to members of Congress is about a cover up, not about safety? Because I asked for a military briefing at the embassy as a substitute and was told the policy prohibited military leaders in the region from even talking to me.

Thanks to Apple for pushing a giant Apple Intelligence iOS updated that completely filled the hard drives of the iPads used by our small, non-profit, local folk festival, rendering them essentially unusable a day before the fest started

This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.

Pete Hegseth is a psychopath and a disgrace. Its unfathomable that he's still in power. I don't even know what to say anymore. Whenever I think that the moral rot has fully metastasized a new mutation is discovered. We're a sick society, getting sicker by the hour. I'm ashamed to be an American.

I find it interesting that both of the baseball players Donald Trump has advocated for and/or honored this year – Roger Clemens and Pete Rose – were involved in the exploitation of girls who were no older than 15 at the time. What a weird coincidence.

Wednesday was not a great day for VTDigger, which missed one of the most impactful developments of the campaign season and failed to get beneath the surface on multiple stories. Digger? More like Surface-Scratcher. thevpo.org/2026/10/08/p...

Perhaps a Rebranding Is in Order at VTDigger

It gives me no pleasure to write this post, but I feel I have no choice because yesterday was a really bad day at VTDigger, starkly showcasing its shortcomings and weaknesses. The word “Digge…

I continue to think that being “too big to fail” is **exactly** their plan for how to navigate the coming crash, and it’s why they’re pushing so hard to get everybody using pricy commercial AI products all the time for everything, even in cases where there is a clear downside (ie, education)

Krishnan is asking a good question about New Yorkers having retirement funds tied up with "A.i." and if there's a crash what the fuck happens. "How can you ensure that you are not too big to fail?" Companies are just blathering and dodging. Talking about their tools, etc.

I agree completely with Malka's thread. I was co-editor of a web journal (The Journal of Mythic Arts) back in the 1990s, when every single page of it had to be coded by hand. It was hard work, but worth it to connect with a wide variety of other writers and artists working with myth & folklore.

we fucking loved it, even when there was basically nothing on it, and let me tell you something else: we loved it because of human connection, human diversity, human creativity. WE DON'T NEED A SINGLE THING ANY OF THESE COMEMIERDAS HAVE MADE AND TRIED TO SELL US IN ORDER TO HAVE A GREAT INTERNET.
