These are probably my opinions only. If you see something that doesn't seem right... 📍 Liverpool, UK

My only thought on school closures is next time we might need to do it so we should think about what to do if that happens and how to help kids catch up. Yeah it was shit for the kids but lockdowns and pandemics were shit for everyone, I dunno what to say.

If we want a voting system that's fairer we may need journalists and politicians to be more patient.

Since The Spectator have today posted an article, in the wake of the Berlin attack, about the threat “Islamists” hold against a nation of “freedom-lovers”, I thought I’d look back over the year to see just how freedom-loving The Spectator actually are towards queer people and Pride…

"But there was an article!" "Oh yes, it was "On Display" down in the cellar in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused (but still single sex) lavatory with a sign outside the door saying "Beware of the leopard". Ever thought of going into PR?"

150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.

Might turn it into a bit where I start paying for the planning consent to get Progress Pride flags up on public buildings.

Just read an article in the Guardian about "outcry over Rudakubana moving to Broadmoor"....... I know it might not be a HMP but what do people think Broadmoor is?

Modern culture and destination tourism want us to look backwards (not always a bad thing, plenty to learn when we contextualise) but when you combine it with the lack of arts criticism, of funding for new projects, of aversion to new work, it means we are just fuelling culture as a nostalgia train

Horrible idea. If some music biz veterans want to set up a Glasgow rock museum/mausoleum, fine, but not in the CCA, which is about creating new work, nurturing the local cultural community and bringing the world to Scotland.

As an example, Katie is a splendid person but is a plastic Scouser from the Wirral, neither one thing nor the other, and wrongly has a Chester postcode. TREAT WITH SUSPICION.

@alanbeattie.bsky.social nails a bugbear of mine: we northerners all view each other with *deep* suspicion. There is no unified "north", it's just bollocks. We can't even agree where it is. All hail the King of the North! But which north? - as.ft.com/r/72b902cb-a...
