I want to see them either sell or buy big (i.e. trade the top couple propects for more impactful guys, like 2 immediate SP). Buying around the edges, like a couple mid level prospects for a mediocre reliever wont change anything. Given the early prices, buying some starters might be the way to go.

As futile as it might be I'd still rather see them add than sell. Most of your prospects are going to fail. Most of the prospects you acquire are going to fail. It's a giant mid-off for a wild-card spot. The return you'd get for Brandon Lowe isn't going to impact your future.

We havent even hit the stoppage and I'm already sick of the MLB salary structure talk being framed as some big workers rights debate. I'm on the side of the players (specifically the non superstars) getting a larger share of $$ and the owners getting less, but ultimately to me this is more about...

It is fascinating to me to see some of the threads about sentamentality around players and caring about keeping certain ones - I have never been attached to any player and honestly struggle to ubderstand it. If dealing or not extemding someone increases the chances of a long term competitive...

The Dodgers (and Yankees before them) are unequivically bad for the entertainment value of the leauge. I dont know what the right answer is, and I hate the owners, but something has to change with the economic model for it to stay relevant and worth following.

It's not like the current system is great for every player. The young players get absolutely fucked in it. The top-15 or 20 players benefit the most when they reach FA. If you've played less than six years in the league or are a middle-class player owners are still cheaping out on them.

You know what? I don't fucking care. The billiionare owner isn't your friend. Neither is Bryce Harper or Juan Soto. I just want a competitive league to watch. Everybody else deals with it, and most of them are more popular and their players are still raking in huge sums of money. I dont fucking care

I've been more optimistic than most on the Pirates throughout the season (feels like every loss had a "sky is falling" contingent, that has largely not been justified so far), but this does feel like it. Ashcraft hit an innings wall...
