Rumour has it that China will attempt a one off conventional rail speed world record with the CR450 on the Chengdu-Chongqing Central HSL. The current record holder was done by a modified French TGV in 2007 where it hit 574.8 kph.
CR450A and CR450B series trains spotted testing around Chongqing East railway station last week. These trains are the fastest conventional high speed trains in the world with a service speed of 400kph. Pictures by soliteor.

A rep from the China Academy of Rail Sciences (CARS) stated final 400kph revenue service testing will be conducted on the Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line next year....

I am usually pro-labor but the LIRR strike is absurd they are already the best paid agency in the country and have tons of extremely generous benefits like 2x wages for working on 2 trains. and now they’re refusing a 4% raise? LIRR union is a perfect example of why US transit is so inefficient

i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times
