The trend in the US was to start at higher GFRs throughout the 2000s and this peaked in 2010 and since then there has been a small decline in mean GFR at initiation but imo it is still too high.

Summary: urinary anion gap is not a good measure of urine ammonium and should be abandoned. If you need to know the urinary ammonium, measure the urinary ammonium. 15/15
