Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social · 5d agoOne of the reasons I deleted years of my Twitter archive was people trying to farm quotes from long conversations. I have always been adamant about not rewarding attention seeking in politics, especially by sinking to the other guys level
It's worth noting that at the beginning of the Trump-era ca. Charlottesville Nichols argued that if we ignored the Proto-Vance Nazis swarming the right wing they would vanish because what they really wanted was attention, and, well, here we are 10 years later.

This is not the first time people have pointed out Vance’s hypocrisy on this issue, but to pull his children into it and say that you somehow know what’s in Vance’s mind about his own kids is over the line.
We will know the Trump era is over when people with decent politics stop believing in conspiracy theories

Parker is correct, and the things that is doubly exasperating is that virtually none of the people posting about giving the Senate away live in Maine. They won't actually "get their hands dirty" in any way, but God forbid they have to indirectly make an emotional sacrifice for the greater good.

Check the quotes for the savviest people online falling hook, line and sinker for what is a Newsmax-level "Buy Gold!"-style advertisement. You should never be more skeptical than when you read something online that confirms your priors so perfectly you want to log on and yell at people

Let’s be clear: the current SCOTUS majority knows that they will no longer be the majority when Democrats take control of the house and the senate. They are simply partisan actors cheating to maintain their own power. They are showing us who they are. Believe them. Take their power away.
TBKTS reminds me a lot of biodynamic farming. The principles it espouses are insane and woo-woo in so many ways, and yet in spite of that some of what it advocates "works" when applied by mental health professionals. BD wine is often great, but listening to BD winemakers is hilarious.

You would think, but I am in week three of arguing with an online retailer, FedEx and the original product maker about how FedEx claimed to make a delivery to a location that was impossible to make (with documentation to prove it) and I suspect 'delivery insurance' is what makes this part go away

It really depresses me to see how deeply ingrained the perpetual loser mentality is in the American Left. Mamdani won! Platner is winning! Run some left wing candidates in primaries, they're actually doing really good!

"The economy is bad because filet mignon is too expensive" is truly one of the more American things I have ever seen posted.
I think she is very correct with this take and the only thing I would add is that the ZIRP era exposed a lot of people to a friction-free life of affordable luxuries and many of those became much more expensive all at once

I think it's funny how Will's threads on this topic become unintentional vectors of the exact economic noise he's trying to post against. Outside of Matt Darling virtually everyone who responds are people who ARE struggling and so it becomes another echo chamber of 'The economy is bad, actually.'
