There's a pol I know who started using A/I to write their speeches a year or two ago. We could tell because one speech - as delivered, on video - included facts that we knew the speaker would know were completely, obviously wrong. But they got read into the record anyway. It was surreal.

Good piece. I wish more people had not dismissed the warning signs for years and acted earlier. But it is good that we are all clear on where what we are facing -- let's name the authoritarian threat, reinforce democratic institutions, fight inequality and defend human rights and the rule of law.

Good piece. When academics and journalists use the phrase "polarization" they are misnaming what has happened and they are adopting the assumptions of authoritarians. Stop describing radicalization on the right as "polarization."
