If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:

For parents of recently diagnosed kids, please know: "Your child is amazing. Receiving a diagnosis of autism does not change who your child is. This diagnosis adds information about how your child communicates, interacts and learns." www.healthychildren.org/English/heal... #autism #parenting

If Autism is Suspected, What’s Next?

When autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is suspected, your child will need a full assessment or evaluation and should be referred for early intervention (EI) services.

Hardly a day goes by without my getting email from someone looking for ways to do good with tech. From computer science students thinking about post-grad careers to seasoned coders with decades of experience, there's an army of hackers looking for a way to turn their expertise into public goods. 1/

This is the most important thing Mamdani is doing in NYC right now Getting it right could have dramatic results for the entire country Imagine a goverment with a functional online presence built to serve citizens, not industry. IRS DirectFile was a great start, but small peanuts

My thoughts about Tony Fauci. He was very demanding to work for because he was involved in so many things, but his staff deeply respected him and relished working with him, even with some challenges. They appreciated his demands for high standards in everything that they did. 1/2

Not every NIH institute director is uniformly loved by their staff. But I’ve never heard criticism of Tony Fauci. (side note: @jeremymberg.bsky.social is another former IC director who seems universally loved by his staff.) Some comments I’ve heard from colleagues today: “He’s an American hero.”

Disability policy often scrambles political coalitions. It’s why AOC is largely silent on disabilities but Zohran Mamdani invests in special ed as mayor. Moderates like Senator Maggie Hassan are some of the biggest supporters. Brian Kemp, Greg Abbott and Henry McMaster ended subminimum wage labor

The interesting thing here is that Moore and Pritzker might not be the ones you’d expect, compared to an AOC or whoever else (Zohran put out something on it earlier that I QTed). But they do have experience in governing at the executive level and an appreciation for hard fought wins like the ADA.

I have to admit that I didn’t know, and I even thought the Spanish player Cucurella’s look was quite original, when it comes to his hair, but I was unaware of this: If he let his hair grow , it’s so that his autistic son can easily recognize him when he watches him on TV. Truly, this Spanish team ❤️

Yesterday the US Administration supercharged its explicit effort to bar international students from staying in the US after graduation. All Americans should know: 1/3 of *all* STEM PhDs working in the US are immigrants who graduated from US universities, then stayed. www.piie.com/index%2Ephp/...
