I saw yesterday that some right-wing outlets were running stories about me, which I’m used to. But this time I’m going to say something about it, because these were framed to imply that I was aligned with their own transphobia. ⬇️

Dear Corporate media: when covering Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana now drawing new congressional maps so their congressional districts are whites only please note these were all former slave states that were part of the Confederacy who waged war on the USA.

"I dissent because Congress elected otherwise. I dissent because the Court betrays its duty to faithfully implement the great statute Congress wrote. I dissent because the Court’s decision will set back the foundational right Congress granted of racial equality in electoral opportunity. I dissent."

Second (and last) #SCOTUS ruling is the big one, Louisiana v. Callais. For a 6-3 majority (Rs v. Ds), Justice Alito purports to narrow the ability of states to draw majority-minority districts as a remedy for race-based vote dilution, but, per Kagan's dissent, comes pretty close to gutting the VRA:

The Texas legislature rammed through a gerrymandering bill at the request of Trump. Virginia actually voted in favor of redistricting to counterbalance what Texas and other Republican-controlled states have done. Yet only one is considered a "power grab." Oligarch-owned media in a nutshell.

If he's going to get a national profile on the strength of a younger woman's campaign, I'm going to come out and say it: during his short-lived tenure as a math professor, Biss had an inappropriate romantic relationship with one of his undergraduate students. I was that student.

The push for generational change in the Democratic Party faces a test in a Chicago-area congressional district, where the top candidates span three generations: from Gen X and millennials to Gen Z. n.pr/3PD5bZ6

In case you're wondering how slow justice moves: after the Trump administration investigated my podcast and removed me from my job at the VA in 2019, I filed a complaint. We still don't have a trial date set. We're waiting on a summary judgment ruling after a hearing last August.
