Google is useless. I searched “how to wash silk eye mask” and do you know what came up in YouTube? Not a single video on how to! Instead: ads for silk eye masks and face masks, goofy videos of people making eye holes in silk masks, silk eye mask companies. Why even allow searches at that point?

I paused when health things arose. This novel is so intensely gay in an earnest way. It is a joy to be seen, while seeing others (as this is explicitly about the Black queer experience). I love Kip and his grotesque neuroses. Clap if you also have grotesque writing related neuroses! 👏👏👏

Public transportation in the US is a direct result of fewer Americans choosing to read for pleasure. Car dependency and the deprioritization of public infrastructure has robbed so many people of free time in which reading was, and still is, an ideal activity.

I just finished Chlorine by Jade Song and it was AMAZING. I did not expect it lean into a Tusk-esque transformation, but the viscera was tame and serene. I appreciated the way it was told from the perspective of an adult mermaid, as if Chlorine was an apt title for human turned mermaid memoir.

We don’t talk enough about how fun it is to steal your boyfriend’s clothes. Steal men’s clothing! Do it! Release your inhibitions like Jordan Sparks commands of you and steal!!!!

Emma is the quintessential “young peoples” novel. I love how outlandish every “elderly” (35+) character is. Mr Woodhouse and Miss Bates (alongside Mrs Bates lol) are exactly like when a teenager talks about their totally normal older relatives.

I wonder, are doctors now being trained to reduce quality of life or???? Because the amount of times I’ve heard “you shouldn’t have tea” or “I know that you think meat hurts your stomach, but it shouldn’t” (like saying it casts a spell on my intestines)

so strange when a straight person tries to tell me of their world……. a world increasingly distant and foreign to me….. like what do you mean….. husband and wife….. like what does that even mean….. a husband and a wife….. the husband and the wife…..

I think glp 1s kinda killed all the wellness euphemisms for weight loss ie “gut health” “cortisol” etc so now everything they’re trying to sell me is something to “regulate the nervous system”

@caitlinstarling.com, you will always be famous!!!!!! What a ghastly fucking book I just devoured. Please, read The Starving Saints ASAP it will enthrall you and bond you into reading all of it in one sitting. I partially choose to read this because I couldn’t really eat—what exquisite gore! 10/10

I started The Starting Saints by Caitlin Starling and I love it! Reminds me of Gormenghast, but with cannibalism, naturally :)))

I read anything within reach. Needful Things when I was 11? Jurassic Park? My mom's VC Andrews? Why not. Weird graphic novels my friend's older brother brought home from the comic book store. Boxes of my dad's old MAD Magazines. Anything slightly too old felt exhilarating.
