Rare photo of Steve Jobs unveiling the first iPhone prototype. Early feedback: “It’s going nowhere, man.”
"In 1930 Germany is a liberal democracy with elections, parliament, & the rule of law. Just four years later, freedom of speech is over, most of the political opposition is in jail, & the government is in the hands of murderers. This is the story of how democracy died" #Trump is a Nazi #bbcpm

One interesting spot is that the CPS seems to have got the law wrong for the first witness statement and asked the witness to give evidence to the non-applicable National Security Act rather than the applicable Official Secrets Act. Whoopsie.

In the USA, many people believe crude oil comes from dinosaurs, while others dismiss this as another government lie, like faked moon landings or hidden history rtc. Both are, of course, wrong. The whole dino myth started with a marketing campaign by Sinclair Oil, as shown in this TV commercial.

I rushed this website out on April 9, and rushing to get it done led to a number of shortcomings in the design of the front-end that I've spent the last couple of weeks working on, at the cost of not delivering content. I've now finished that work, and will add new content soon.
This is now an article on trumps-tariffs.com/pages/saint-...
Just back from my first holiday to China. Quiet time to visit. 1) EVs everywhere, Tesla visibly swamped 2) Influencers rule all, even rural farmers do direct sales online 3) Facial recognition is ubiquitous, feels like it could spread to West 4) Parallel internet really limits understanding of China

Price of cocoa – chocolate’s key ingredient – has climbed over past year and tariffs on imports will keep prices high

I’m currently reworking the front-end of this website as it was kind of hacked together to get the site out quickly. So sorry for no content updates.
@explaintrade.com Hi. trumps-tariffs.com is now live.
Where’s @richtreynolds.bsky.social? 2nd home game absent?
Science does not work like this. The only way you can set a timeline is if you have rigged the results in advance.
Just cited in a paper we’re writing (although now rewriting final para given Trump’s climb down, at least for a few hours). 🙏
"There's nothing that you've said in your answers or non-answers to me today that would give Americans any assurance..." Rep. Lloyd Doggett pressed Trump's trade Rep. Jamieson Greer on the implementation and justification of the administration's sweeping global tariffs. youtube.com/shorts/5_Kil...

Hot damn, Steven Horsford just set fire to Trump's U.S. Trade Representative Jameison Greer over Trump's idiotic and costly tariff play.
Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"
WARNER: Can you explain how it helps natl security or our trade balance - I loved your fancy Greek formula which was bad math on steroids - how with a trade surplus Australia got hit with a 10% tariff as well? GREER: Australia has the lowest rate available WARNER: We have a trade surplus!
Pundits are - in vain - looking to economics and politics when trying to explain Trump's behavior. But, in reality, the central place to look if we want to understand Trump and his policies is this: The psychology of dominance. 🧵(1/5)
The US has now the least qualified economic policy making in the developed world. An ignorant and seemingly dement leader has not evolved beyond the 1890s. He accepts no facts or economic realities & nobody can impose any truth on him. The US is in a terrible disaster.
You have clearly invited me to share with you one of the finest ambassadorial despatches in the British Foreign Office's capacious archives, after sharing that image and particularly its caption. I'm sure you know this famous message already, but if not, enjoy. Perfectly formed joke between friends.
I managed to wade through all that, although I won’t claim to understand it. But the conclusion was fascinating. Great job!
US Envoys arrived today and are pleading with our leaders to refrain from imposing retaliatory tariffs. We initially denied their pleas until their ambassador returned wearing a suit and thanked us for existing.
Given up trying to make sense of US administration - when major news breaks I look for insights to @heardislandgov.bsky.social
Finance Minister: Unfortunately, the manipulation scheme now known as “dump, Trump, and pump” is only affecting other nations, as we are still stuck with 10% tariffs.
