The irony of OpenAI and Anthropic running to the government to save them whenever there’s competition and it’s this government that complains about “handouts” and communism.
The pro-peptide stacked FDA advisory committee voted to lift the ban for BPC-157, as expected. This ban lifting is baseless and will give the public a sense of legitimacy for a peptide with no clinical trial data to support safety or efficacy. Pathetic.
So I set out to investigate where the blueberries I buy come from — and if those farms have a record of mistreating workers. projects.propublica.org/blueberries-...
Do My Grocery Store Blueberries Come From Farms Where Workers Were Harmed?
Max Blau spent a year reporting on abuses of farmworkers. It left him wondering: Is the produce he buys at the grocery store part of the problem?

In America today, the wealthiest 1% is now worth more than the entire American middle class. That never happened before.
It’s so important to remind people that we can do good smart things that help and don’t hurt.
Two Minnesota solar farms seeded native wildflowers under their panels, and 5 years of counting revealed native bees had multiplied twentyfold, then crossed the fence to pollinate the neighbour's soybeans
Driving a gas car is a geopolitical act. Using AI is a geopolitical act. We make it harder on Ukraine by allowing Russia to sell oil to keep gas prices “low” AI uses so much electricity, its demand drives price increases, making EV use more expensive An Inconvenient Truth came out 20 years ago!!
In March 2025, Trump met in the Oval Office with oil & gas executives. They listen their grievances and, on the spot, Trump leapt to address them. The executives were, in their own words, "stunned." Read these extraordinary excerpts. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/c...
20-year-old me will forever be shocked that Bill Kristol is now to the left of like 80% of the Democratic leadership on ICE.
If this is true, the lesson should be not be to declare victory (ok, take one minute to enjoy the victory), but to redouble pressure on the whole indecent mass deportation regime
Where are all the people that signed the Harper letter? Where is FIRE foundation?
1. TERF activist J.K. Rowling is threatening to bankrupt Amnesty International (UK) with lawsuits because the org dared release a report criticizing anti-trans organizaitons. The UK's laws are designed to allow rich people to suppress speech they do not like. Subscribe to support our journalism.
Maybe, the irony is that is Bonds cheated 20% less and was 20% less of a prick, people who talk about him with the respect they did for his Godfather.
In the lead-up to Kennedy’s confirmation, lots of contrarian medical folks like Vinay Prasad insisted that the only way to restore faith in public health and vaccines was to put the anti-vaxxer in charge. So that was bullshit.
Tetanus is returning. In the 1930s, Tetanus was widespread in the US. The development & deployment of vaccines reduced annual cases from ~ 600 in the 1940s to 17 in 2020. Mortality dropped 99%. There is no cure for tetanus. We have forgotten how life was before vaccines. 🧪 archive.today/c6QVx
Mick, “please allow me to introduce myself”
Mick Jagger sat down for a half hour interview with Mitch McConnell earlier today.
Sam Neill insisting on changing the Australian flag in Event Horizon, and the reasoning behind it, speaks to his character so well. For those who don't know, the reason the flag on Weir's costume has the Aboriginal flag, not the Union flag, is because Sam said he hoped by 2047 we'd have changed it.
One of my favorite ASG moments. 99% sure I was watching live. Would have been right before I went to college, and just before the strike. That 94 Expos team was awesome. Yankees were pretty good too. #MLB #ASG #baseball #Yankees m.youtube.com/watch?v=sbdf...

Babies who don’t get the vitamin K shot are 81 times more likely to develop severe bleeding. In many cases, oxygen can’t reach their brains and blood pools around their skulls. Yet driven by misinformation, more parents are refusing the injection.
Babies Are Bleeding to Death as Parents Reject a Vitamin Shot Given at Birth
A lifesaving injection given at birth to prevent severe bleeding has become collateral damage of the anti-vaccine movement.

Back when I used to travel 50 days a year for baseball stuff I would spend a lot of time at libraries in cities I was at to do some work on my laptop. Fun fact - there's a library that shares a parking lot with Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona.
Libraries are so cool. Whenever I'm away from home and need a place to hang out between things, I find a library. There's a bathroom, a water fountain, chairs, and I can read, meditate, use the computers, or just be, and no one tries me make me buy anything.
