What Skolnik said. If anything, medical advancements in general are undercelebrated. If you told me in 1988 that HIV would be considered a chronic condition by millions of Americans, I would have cried for joy.

i did not know that being trans was a possibility until my late teens. we have informed consent now instead of RLE. we can prevent HIV. mental health treatment has come leaps and bounds. there are a million medical improvements, period

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time.  Perhaps I am reading too much into this, but seeing James Remar as the blind seer saying “do you see?” while his head is is covered with a tight cowl reminded me of Tom Noonan saying the same thing with his stocking over his head im Michael Mann’s Manhunter, a movie likely beloved by Nolan.

Something that occurs to one watching THE ODYSSEY: Matt Damon either doesn’t like playing an arrogant asshole, or Nolan decided not to let him. He just can’t really do Total Bastard and part of the point is the main character, the ur-protagonist, is a TOTAL BASTARD.
