Shanah Tovah, New York! Wishing all Jewish New Yorkers celebrating a sweet, joyful and meaningful Rosh Hashanah. Here’s to a new year filled with health, happiness and blessings (and yes, even another Knicks championship).

"It isn’t AI that is deciding to place data centers in overburdened Black & brown communities; it is people who hope to profit ... who probably live in other neighborhoods & wouldn’t want this infrastructure located where they and their children live." — Joshua Long in @baltimoresun.bsky.social

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Imagine this in a trial. Devastating first-hand witness to Alex Pretti's killing Declaration filed in federal court: "I don't know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him."

Alex Pretti "used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern...I laughed alongside him daily. He made a point to teach medical residents without judgement, but with a smile on his face and a joke."

Exactly a week ago tonight, I bought an outstanding quesadilla from a food truck around the corner from my house. Sometime today, the man who smiled warmly and provided my meal to me, and literal shelter from a rainstorm, was kidnapped by paramilitary forces.

it's wild to me that we have a letter from 850+ rabbis denouncing zohran mamdani for things he never said and positions he never took while no such letter has been written condemning stephen miller for claiming to "defend jewish values" while being an utter fucking nazi and dismantling our democracy

it’s funny how the attacks levied last night against zohran mamdani by andrew cuomo more accurately describe stephen miller — totally inexperienced, deeply ideological, surrounded by antisemites, speaks like he’s talking exclusively to the internet, will bring about a policy nightmare, etc.

We have literal neo-Nazis working in the administration and still, little concern relative to Mamdani. It's a reminder that for many, it's not just that they associate anti-Israel rhetoric with antisemitism. It's that it is their ONLY definition, and antisemitism unrelated to Israel is ignored.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.

Final vote. 50-50. VP breaks the tie. One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears. They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.
