Required reading. Seeing the way DevRel has twisted into this grotesque form of marketing and conference-led-sales is really sad. I would argue that DevRel, maybe now more than ever, is incredibly important. We (developers) are an especially capricious bunch: we must be shown the way.

the problem is not that it’s free software (free to fork, free to study, free to modify) run by a rag tag group of maintainers - the problem is it’s the literal backbone of all modern digital infrastructure and should be considered “too important to fail”. So yeah, when rsync vibes, it’s concerning.

Cooperative email for atproto. Small self-hosters pool reputation through a shared relay so mail from their own domain reliably reaches the inbox.

Two of my favorite tools were merged together, Obsidian and DuckDB. @mehdio.com created a plugin to run and show inline SQL queries locally, in-memory, or even on remote files via http, or remote DWH MotherDuck. Amazingly, it allows Obsidian to "freeze" remote results in offline Markdown notes.
My fav projectbluefin.io feedback: "I just want to add that honestly, I think people underestimate the degree to which there is also a large contingent of highly intelligent and technically proficient software people that don't want to fucking deal with Linux's bullshit either."
