Client giving dates in Americans format giving me a heart attack. YOU WANT THIS LIVE ON 10/8 ?!?!!!!
In 2011, the UK government response to antitrans provocations was "Don't be so bloody stupid".
web.archive.org/web/20260108... Here's an archive link of the original business guidance in case the original goes missing. In pretty clear terms the original guidance used to say stuff like "obviously, so long as the changing rooms allow privacy, trans women should be permitted to use the womens"
There's actually a specific clause in the ECHR allowing derogation from the prohibition on capital punishment for all Andrews Tate.
we don’t execute people here in the UK, that’s true, but I think here we can make an exception
EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect today so remember to be an absolute pain in the arse to any service provider who is trying to actively enforce it.
And cars. Reliability, efficiency, safety, were all a lottery in the 70s and 80s. Now you can pretty much get any car and it'll be fine. Same with personal electronics. Things needing to go to repair all the time wasn't unusual. People's complaints now were absolute luxury then.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
right, ok, enough self-pity, I need to turn my shit pub around. it's in Stratford, it's got a (small) stage, there has to be someone who has something cool they want a space for queer-run, extremely diverse venue (we even let mumbling old white geezers in) what I'd call 'mostly accessible'
Broke: non-echo chamber bluesky Woke: region-locked bluesky
I've probably got people who follow me who've not read this incredible book, and you can right this wrong now. You don't even have to give a shit about the KLF, as yes it is about that, but it's not really about that, it's about the power of ideas to shape reality.
A few more chapters left to go of this wonderful book by @johnhiggs.bsky.social. I don’t want it to end. And a rare book that warrants the hype. Will finish it now facing the offing - which feels somehow appropriate.
incidentally we saw adrian lester’s cyrano de bergerac at the noël coward theatre this week and good GOD he is good. the play deserves to be sold out but isn’t, so you may get some good deals (we got decent stalls seats for £24)
the existence of cyrano de bergerac implies the existence of cyrayes de miss marple
"Shall we spend absurd amounts of time with some really convoluted contraption of flags to completely darken her face, or should we light the overall scene and do that bit in grading?" "Well, we don't want to upset the most boring people on the planet."
It really sucks for the cast, because they weren't the problem. But this is no surprise. Irvine Welsh did a bad job. He didn't know what he was doing.
Trainspotting The Musical cancels tour

Again, a fundamental issue with trying to cover the anti-trans movement is that explaining that they are habitually insincere and so routinely chose transphobia over women's rights does make you sound conspiratiorial, and yet...
I don't know about topping, but there is a a very good followup
The best part of being a liberal is you get 20 homophobia points a day that you can spend however you want! And nobody can call you homophobic because you voted for a straight Democrat!
airbnb I’m staying at unintentionally created the toughest punk album cover of 2027
People trying to win against art is really the most tedious exhausting thing and the internet dopamine machine keeps feeding it. Everyone seems to be going to stuff just so they can have a snippy take they can get retweeted. You're so fucking boring and I would never want to see anything with you.
if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”

Watching a YouTube video about Gone With the Wind, and the repeated referring to the author Margaret Mitchell as Peggy Mitchell is very distracting.
After watching Hoyte van Hoytema's beautiful IMAX film cinematography on The Odyssey, and this utterly lovely test Gareth Edwards did with the Sony FX5 before shooting The Creator, it really goes to show the film Vs digital "debate" is a load of silly bollocks.

Proustian meltdown after hearing Ready For the Floor by Hot Chip on a TikTok. Actually teared up. Youth was so long ago.
Because it's the time of the year you want to take your holiday, not because it's the best time to go abroad.
Summer holidays make no sense. Complain about the cold, wet weather in Britain during winter, then the moment it gets hot in britain, fly somewhere foreign.
4 shows on my docket this week. 1st one was the new production of Cats at Regent's Park Open Air a theatre directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie. Genuinely some of the most exciting choreo I've ever watched and an amazing cast. Highly recommend (it tours later this year too).
Getting a full back tattoo of Richard Scarry's Busytown
Lol. Boy George has been bounced from his Jesus Christ Superstar appearances. Which means some extra Richard Armitage appearances. And he is fantastic.
