The photograph may be the wrong thing to argue about. The four weeks before it are stranger. Across 1,103 releases and 51 months the office averaged 21.6 a month, and 10.1 since McConnell gave up the leadership, roughly one every three days. Between the June 9 release and the July 12 statement: 33 days, the longest gap in four and a half years, longer than an August recess. From the collapse itself, 28 days, beaten only by that recess. Two things remain unresolved. No outlet, Kentucky's local press included, has named the hospital or the rehabilitation center; one unconfirmed report puts the June 14 transport at George Washington University Hospital, where McConnell was treated after a fall in 2023. And the dispatch that morning went out coded as a cardiac arrest with CPR in progress, while the office described a fall and a brief loss of consciousness. Dispatch codes get over-triaged constantly. It's worth a call, not an accusation. No fact-checking outfit has examined the real photograph yet. Snopes did take apart an AI-generated hospital-bed image, which circulated on July 8, four days earlier.
