Still amazing that the official government policy is universities can't do DEI except for hiring professors whose politics better align with the regime in power.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon is sending a letter Monday to the leaders of US universities asking them to commit to a slate of campus reforms by the end of 2026 in the Trump administration’s latest effort to overhaul higher education.

The letter, which was reviewed by Bloomberg News, asks schools to publicly pledge to make sweeping changes that include reexamining admissions practices, hiring more conservative faculty, cracking down on student protests, combating grade inflation, reducing foreign donations and lowering tuition.

Just begging people to let it set in that even with the worst president in US history earning that title every day, a half billion dollars dumped into these elections by an amoral scammer, who may be the greatest con man who ever lived, can actually affect said elections if not effectively combated.

As far as the Reflecting Pool case goes, Jeanine Pirro is required to provide facts and evidence that hold up in a court of law. Donald Trump and Doug Burgum, while offering their takes on the matter, are not. Draw your own conclusions.

So many sneering elitist journalists with snarky posts over the past months that the Reflecting Pool story was trivial. It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.

I worry that most cynical among us, hopped up on 30 years of law and order rhetoric, will say "this is the system working: he didn't do anything wrong and now he's free." As if the terror and wide-scale publicity of an arrest and federal prosecution is not a horrible punishment in and of itself.

The Justice Department is admitting that a $14 million renovation on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, DC, was flawed, and is dropping the criminal case against a former Olympian that accused him of damaging the pool, according to a new court filing. https://cnn.it/3RJJnwj

you'd think moving from X to Bluesky would be like moving from a crackhouse to a rehab clinic, but in reality it ended up like moving from a crackhouse to a second, smaller crackhouse

Yeah, this absolutely drives me crazy. This is not my job. I'm not a reporter and I'm not an elected official. I do this when and how I feel like it. Not only am I under no obligation to anyone to publish a take about every single subject, it would be grossly irresponsible for me to do that.

wtf. any time anyone asks a semi-public figure "why are you silent on X" it's like "dude, I don't have all the time in the world to opine on every single subject". lnkd.in/p/gKKWgdMz

Susan Collins, who voted for $70 billion in no-strings-attached ICE funding, is now taking credit for securing new bodycams to distance herself from Trump and ICE. This is how Collins wins in Maine. Dems must go on offense on ICE to thwart this scam. New from me: newrepublic.com/article/2138...

What Susan Collins Just Did on Trump and ICE Should Worry All Dems

She voted for $70 billion in no-strings-attached ICE funding. But now she’s taking credit for a new bodycam commitment from ICE. Democrats can’t let her get away with this.

As a fiscal conservative deficit hawk, there’s no way I could support a $1.5 trillion budget. Unless that $1.5 trillion was for an alcoholic Fox News weekend anchor who’s losing a war to Iran’s third tier army.

As I've said before: What high-paying long-term jobs do they pretend exist here? A data center isn't a place where execs come and do Big Deals. Go to the server room at your workplace; are there lots of rich people in there spending money?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 5d ago

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
