Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.
And the dendrobium orchid that just appeared on my tree one day blooms again.
Spray everything but Not With Pyrethrins. I spray my shoe tops, pant legs, my hat & every opening in my clothes. Even in the winter. I spray inside my boots after I put them on.

Green heron seen at Oaks Bottom today. I had to be real still and hide behind a railing so they wouldn't startle and fly away. Hilariously, a brown creeper decided right then to sidle up a tree right by my arm, but if I'd moved to try to photograph the creeper, the heron would've fled.

Exactly 53 years ago the Allman Bros were playing Whipping Post and the show was over. We thought. Then this happened. Pretty sure they got the timing wrong because it had to have been 13 hours, not minutes. Or I was still tripping balls.
