An ICU nurse was killed by federal agents today. I didn’t share the video because it’s traumatizing — but watching it, it’s clear deadly force was not necessary. This is not normal. This is not acceptable. A society that loses its instinct for restraint and human life is in deep trouble.

The shooting in Minneapolis isn’t just another headline, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve drifted from our shared humanity. When fear hardens into dehumanization, violence becomes easier to justify and harder to stop.
The FDA’s approval of a new oral medication for weight management marks an important shift in how we treat obesity. Lower barriers to care, greater flexibility for patients, & continued recognition that treating obesity means treating biology, not blaming behavior. This is what progress looks like.

Stunning setback for public health. CDC’s ACIP voted to end the universal newborn hep B vaccine recommendation, a move that puts infants & families at risk. The birth dose is proven, effective, and prevents lifelong disease. Let’s be clear, rolling it back will cause harm.
As @josephsakran.bsky.social so often says, especially when it comes to gun violence, prevention is the best medicine. But we need all of the tools we can get to save lives once tragedy strikes.
